The study aimed to provide an accurate knowledge of the conceptual metaphor
theory attributed to George Lakoff and Mark Johnson, with an indication of the
stages that contributed to its renewal and investment by Mark Turner and Gilles
Fauconnier). The study sought to invest the theory in analyzing poetic models from
Al-Baradouni's poetry; In order to consolidate theoretical efforts, and invest them
in critical reading, which takes into account the conceptual worlds. The study has
adopted a non-model in application; In accordance with the metaphor found in the
poetic models of analysis and approach. The study aspires to explore the complex
mental mechanisms of thinking; by assuming that al-Baradouni, as a non-sighted
person, was able, through metaphor, to build an unconstrained pictorial horizon,
and to place the reader at the heart of the meaning; Without questioning whether
the concepts emanating from the blind may be incomplete. The study sought to
prove the efficacy of the theory through the mature perceptions revealed by Al Baradouni's poetry, by answering the following questions:
How did the conceptual metaphor arise, and what is the relation of the conceptual
blending theory to it?
What is the relation of conceptual metaphor to literary discourse? And how
important lies in understanding and thinking?
What is the role of metaphors in delineating the concepts of Al-Baradouni? And
how bypassed by lost sight!
How are metaphors manifested in refreshing the mind to personify the place and
draw the dimensions of the facts?
The importance of the study emerges in two aspects: one related to the theory, as
far as we see multiple researches related to the theory; However, it did not deal
with the theory with the comprehensiveness that it places in the microscopes of
application, and the efforts made to implement it on the texts are only a small
number that does not lead to results that reveal its efficacy in understanding the
literary discourse; Most of what was applied to it was purely linguistic. The other
aspect, related to the code, which we adopted to test the theory; because of its
conceptual metaphors of varying appearance; It also comes from a blind man,
which is what makes us investigate its efficacy in the integrity of meaning and
representation.
The study concluded several results, most notably: Literary metaphors are nothing
but an extension of daily metaphors, and the literary text is based on positive
metaphors, and writers are only those who can start from the situational metaphors
to produce new, striking and captivating metaphors. The figurative metaphor also
represents a broad entrance to the interpretation of the literary text, and the literary
text is nothing but a total metaphor from which the partial metaphors that are
responsible for opening the paths of our perceptions towards the intended
references and judgments contained in the text. The study concluded, through the
application: that diagnosis is the most appropriate mechanism for addressing home
borrowing; It revealed its manifestation related to humanitarian situations, which
are affected by living conditions, and the metaphors of the homeland seemed to be
divided between the state of stability and freedom, the state of turmoil,
displacement, and robbery. And that the search for the senses and their
correspondence, is in fact a search for human perception and its aspects; It is only a
role played by metaphor, and human senses may seem different; However, they are
connected with each other to the extent that one sense acts on behalf of the other
and performs its role; As much as the sense of sight is of importance, as a basic
sense of imagination, which refers to light and vision, it may be absent for certain
circumstances and the rest of the senses deputize for it to perform its figurative
function, and all this arises thanks to metaphor.
