This study aimed to identify the requirements (cognitive, skill, technical, and
value) for the practice of social counseling through digital platforms in some
schools in the Sultanate of Oman; and to identify the difficulties faced by social
workers in the practice of digital social counseling and proposals for solving them;
and using the descriptive approach, the study was applied to social workers in both
Wilayat Bawshar in Muscat Governorate (26), and the state of Nizwa in the
governorate of Al Dakhiliya (36), as well as the supervisors of social guidance in
the governorate of Muscat and the number of 8 and the governorate of Al
Dakhiliyah and the number of 5, and in order to collect data was used
questionnaire tool for social workers and the interview guide for social guidance
supervisors
This study concluded with the following results:
1. Social workers have a desire to learn about the experiences of countries
implementing digital counseling
2. The provision of digital platforms related to e-counseling will contribute to
raising the technical competence of social workers and will save effort and
time
3. that social workers need to be trained in concentration skills and avoiding
distractions during the implementation of counseling programs using digital
platforms
4. The need to develop regulations and laws that help regulate electronic
guidance and preserve the rights of the mentor and the mentor during the
practice of guidance through electronic platforms.
This study recommended the need for training programs in the technical field for
social workers, developing the Tasheel platform to be an electronic platform for
social workers in the field of social counseling, conducting more studies on the
use of counseling platforms in the school field, and encouraging social workers to
innovate in the field of technology.
