The study aimed to identify the predictive ability of the family climate in the emotional
regulation of eleventh grade students in Muscat Governorate. The study sample consisted of
(500) male and female students from the eleventh grade in government schools in the state of
Matrah. The study applied the descriptive correlational method. Family climate scale and the
emotional regulation scale were used. The study results showed that the family climate level
among eleventh-grade students in Muscat governorate was average in all dimensions, except for
family cohesion, which was high. The emotional regulation level in the overall score and in the
re-evaluation and expressive suppression is moderate. There are statistically significant
differences in the overall score of emotional regulation dimensions attributed to gender, and
there is no statistical significance in the gender-related expressive suppression. On the other
hand, it found statistical significance in the dimension of re-evaluation in favor of females. There
is no statistical significance in the overall score of emotional regulation dimensions attributed to
the individual's position within the family, and there were statistically significant differences in
the mean of expression suppression between early birth order and late birth order, in favor of the late birth order. In addition, the results indicated a statistically significant positive correlation between emotional regulation and family climate. Family climate explains 10 % of the variance in the emotional regulation. The study also resulted in a set of recommendations.
