The current study relied on the simi-experimental approach, which aimed to reveal
the effectiveness of a counseling program based on dialectical behavioral therapy
(DBT) in improving the level of ego strength among ninth-grade female students in
North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. To achieve the goal of the study, the ego strength
scale and the DBT-based counseling program were applied. However, the program
consisted of fourteen sessions, in which two sessions per week were done. The study
sample consisted of 30 female students from grade-nine. The students were randomly
distributed in two groups with 15 students each. Namely, one group is the experimental
group, and the other is the control group. The experimental group was exposed only to
the DBT-based counseling program, whereas the ego strength scale was applied to
both groups as a pre-and post-measurement. The results of the study showed that there
were statistically differences between the average scores of the experimental group in
the pre-and post-measurement and in favor for the post-measurement. It also found
that there were statistically differences between the average scores of the experimental
group and the control group in the post-measurement in favor for the experimental
group. In general, the results demonstrated the continuity of the effectiveness of the
DBT-based counseling program in improving the level of ego strength among the
grade-nine female students after four weeks of its application.
