Economic crime is currently considered as
one of the extremely dangerous crimes due to
its multi-dimensional impacts. Although its
underpinnings are not different than those of
other crimes, its harms extend not only to the
individuals, but also to the society. It adversely affects the economic structure of the state,
which gives economic crime a unique characteristic that differ from other crimes.
In light of harmful implications of economic crime and its various modus operandi, the
mechanisms of combating have been constantly evolving, be it on the international domain
or the national domain. The heterogeneity of
mechanisms in combating economic crimes
can be observed in related international agreements, the relevant Omani laws, and various
tools and techniques used by special units of
the security and administrative authorities.
