This study aimed to identify the level of economic awareness among 11th grade students in post-primary education schools in the Sultanate of Oman. To achieve the objective of the study, a scale consisted of three sections was created: Economical knowledge test, Economic attitudes scale and Economical behavior scal. Each of thes measures covered six areas, the importance of economic information, entrepreneurship, investment, production, savings and consumption. Moreover, in order to verify the validity of the scale, the researcher distributed it to a group of experts with 17). The reliability of the scale was verified by applying it to an external sample (outside the study sample) composed of (38) students of 11th grade. The Alpha Cronbach showed (0.687) for the economic knowledge test, (0.909) for economic attitudes scale, and (0.723) for economic behavior. The study sample consisted of (935) male and female students representing several Omani governorates (Muscat, Al Dakhilia, Al Batinah South and Al Sharqiyah South).
The study results showed the following:
1. The level of general economic awareness among 11th graders in post-basic education was average, with a percentage of (67.9). The percentage of the average of the knowledge test was low (44%), and the general average of economic attitudes was (3.99) and (2.39) for the economic behavior.
2. There are statistically signfficant differences at the level (a = 0.05) in favor of the
female.
The study also recommended several recommendations on developing the level of economic awareness among school students in the Sultanate of Oman. Also, work on finding solutions to address the problem of low level of economic awareness among students, whether through the development of social studies curricula or various activities related to economic awareness. Finally, assesses the level of economic awareness among teachers because of their role in developing the level of economic awareness among students.
