This study aimed to investigate the level of job satisfaction among learning resource centers specialists in basic and post-basic education schools in Muscat District. With regard to the following axes: Nature of work, management and supervision, work environment, motivation and incentives, relationships at work and job security. The study sought also to identify the impact of the following independent variables on the level of job satisfaction: gender: (male or female), marital status, residency in the District of Muscat, specialization, level of qualification, level of experience and financial class. The study sought specifically to answer the following research questions: 1 - What is the level of job satisfaction among learning resource centers specialists in basic and post-basic education schools in Muscat District? 2- Is the job satisfaction among learning resource centers specialists in basic and post-basic education schools in Muscat District affected by the following variables:
a. Gender: (male or female) b. Marital status c. Residency in the District of Muscat d. Specialization e. Level of qualification f. Level of experience g. Financial class?
The researcher used the descriptive research approach. A questionnaire was used to collect data. A total of (87) questionnaires were distributed to the population of the study. 82 of them responded, making the response rate 94.25%. Data were analyzed via SPSS by finding out averages and standard of deviation, and by applying T -test and one-way ANOVA. The study revealed a number of findings, the most important ones were the following: 1- The level of the general job satisfaction among population of the study was moderate. However, their level of job satisfaction with regard to relationships at work, motives and incentives and nature of work was high. On the other hand, the level of their satisfaction with job security management and supervision, and work environment was medium.
2- There was statistically significant impact of the following variables on the job satisfaction among the population of the study: a. Gender (in favor of females). b. Residency in the District of Muscat (in favor of residents). c. Level of experience in favor of those with long experience).
d. Financial class (in favor of those having higher salaries). 3- There was no statistically significant impact of the marital status, specialization and the level of qualification on the job satisfaction among the population of the study. Eventually, the study made some recommendations. The most significant ones are as follows:
1- Expedite the issuance of the regulations related to the
management of learning resources centers.
2- Allocate an appropriate and independent budget for learning resource centers.
3- Raise the salaries of learning resource centers specialist by adding a technical allowance and grant incentive bonus. In addition to giving them chances of promotion.
4- Hire assistants for learning resource centers specialists to provide assistance in high student density schools in order to reduce job stress among this category of information professionals.
