This of study aimd to determine the extent to which 8th Grade Basic Education students use the language diglossia in their talking. To achieve this aim, the researcher recorded talks of 40 students who forms the study's sample and who were selected from eight schools from Southern Al-Batinah Region. Their talks were analysed according to three levels of language : phonetic, lexical, and grammatical. The following findings were reached : - Average percentage of using dialect in speaking is high i.e. 67.4%. In contrast, average percentage of standard language use is 32.6 only. 2- There are statistical differences between averages of using language diglossia where in lexical level it is higher with males than females, and in grammatical level it is higher with femals than males. 3- There are statistical differences between averages of using language diglossia in phonetic level where it is higher in mountains area. In the light of the study's findings, a number of suggestions were presented such as: carrying out site surveys dealing with languages diglossia at different educational levels and stages, giving better training and coaching to teachers and improving their use of standard language, encouraging teachers to avoid using dialect in their talking with students, and directing audio and visual media toward training their staff for mastering modern standard language.
