The study aims to investigate the extent by which social studies senior teachers practice their supervision duties as perceived by educational supervisors and teachers. In addition, the current study seeks to identify any variations in the sample perceptions that may be attributed to gender or job level. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher formulated a questionnaire that consists of 34 items covering 7 different supervision dimensions. These dimensions are school environment and local community, assessment and examinations, professional development, field follow-up, planning, curriculum and training. A total of 116 dies teachers and 56 educational supervisors (history and geography) participated in the questionnaire of this study from all the educational regions in Oman. The researcher used descriptive approach in this study. The result of the study can be summarized as follows:
1) According to the educational supervisors and teachers the degree of the practice of the seven supervision dimensions are in the following descending order; school environment and local community, assessinent and examinations, professional development, field follow-up, planning, curriculum and training 2) On the gender factor, on all the seven supervision dimensions, there is a
statistical significant difference at the level of a = 0.05 in the mean perceptions of the educational supervisors and teachers. The differenceis in favor of the female. 3) There is a significant statistical difference at the level of a= 0.05 in the mean perceptions of the educational supervisors and teachers attributable to the job level in the following supervision dimensions; planning, curriculum, professional development, assessment and examinations, school environment and local community. 4) There is no statically significant difference at the level of a = 0.05 in the mean perceptions of the educational supervisors and teachers on the follow up and training that can be attributed to job level. On the view of these results, the study proposes a list of suggestions and recommendations that may help to improve the role of the senior teachers.
