The aim of this study is to measure the effect of teaching visual thinking activities on solving geometrical problems on Cycle one pupils in Basic Education classes. It also aims at investigating the effect of teaching visual thinking activities on developing visual thinking skills of pupils The researcher has used two assessment methods:
Problem solving test comprising 15 multiple choice questions. Visual thinking tests including the following skills recognition of similarity, recognition of differences and discovering patterns.
The sample of the study consisted of (59) pupils from Sultan Qaboos School for Basic Education. The pupils were studying in grade four and enrolled into two classes. One class formed the experimental group and the other the control group.
The findings revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups in the tests of solving Geometrical problems and visual of thinking skills in favor of the experimental group. The . study recommends a number of ways to provide the teacher training colleges with appropriate Approaches and strategies that can enhance pupil's visual thinking. It also recommends the provision of activities and tasks related to visual thinking in the school syllabus books.
