The study aimed to uncover the problems of teaching listening as perceived by Arabic language teachers for non-native speakers in the Sultanate of Oman. The study sample amounted to (32) male and female teachers of the Arabic language for non-native speakers working in institutes and institutions for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers in the Sultanate of Oman, divided into (14) males and (18) females teachers, and the study sample members were chosen in an intentional way.
The study followed the descriptive and analytical method, as well as a questionnaire prepared by the researcher, to reveal the problems of teaching the skill of listening from the point of view of teachers of the Arabic language to non-Arabic speakers. It was divided into three axis: teacher, learner, content and teaching methods. The study found the following results:
1. The problems in the learner axis came in the first place with a mean of (3.15), a standard deviation of (0.88) and a moderate degree of response. While the problems included in the content and teaching methods axis came second with a medium response degree, a mean of (3.07) and a standard deviation of (0.88), The problems on the teacher's axis came at the end of the arrangement, with a low degree of response, a mean of (2.02) and a standard deviation of (0.77).
2. There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance
(α = 0.05) between teachers of the Arabic language for non-native speakers in their view of listening teaching problems related to gender and academic qualification.
3. There are statistically differences at (α = 0.05) between teachers of Arabic language to non-Arabic speakers, as per their views regarding the problems when teaching listening, they favor the category whom achieved more than 5 years of experience when compared to the category that has achieved less than 3 years experience.
The study presented a set of recommendations and suggested researches related to the previous result, which the researcher included in the body of the research.
