Elegies of Jawari in the Abbasid Era The elegies of Jawari in the Abbasid era is considered a counter tradition practice in that era, thus poets were somehow restricted to express deep sorrow for their dead wives/ beloved women through poetry. This study, therefore; discusses the issue of the elegies of jawari; it consists of a preface, three chapters and a conclusion. The preface contains a background about jawari in the Pre-Islamic, Islamic and Abbasid eras, and focuses on the female slaves in these eras .It talks about their jobs, social status, and races, and draws a comparison between them and the free women.
The first chapter discusses two topics:al jariya in the eye of poets and the meaning and lexical characteristics of the elegies. Topic one is divided into four categories: the jawari of Caliphs, jawari of princes, jawari of ministries and the jawari of the public.
The second chapter discusses the image structure in the elegy of jawari, comprising three topics. Topicone is about simile, topic two is about borrowed image and topic three is about metaphor.
The third Chapter discusses the rhythm and its technical denotation, comprising two topics. Topic one is about the external rhythm of the elegyand topic two is about the internal rhythm.
Finally, the study ends up with a conclusion comprising a number of findings.
