This study aimed at identifying the environmental concepts that should be included in the social studies textbooks taught in the third and forth grades of the first cycle of Basic education in the Sultanate of Oman through answering the next questions: 1. What are the environmental concepts should be included in social studies textbooks for the third and forth classes in the Basic Stage? 2. What are the environmental concepts included in the textbooks for Basic third and forth classes for the (2002/2003)? 3. Are there any statistical indication differences between the social studies textbooks for the third and forth-basic classes and the total of environmental concepts domains repetition? To Answer these questions, the researcher reviewed many previous studies related to listing environmental concepts in educational curricula in general and the social studies curricula in particular, the researcher also studied the aims of the social studies regarding this cycle and then made a primary list included (222) environmental concept distributed to six domains to submit it to the competent. The researcher also analyzed the textbooks of the social studies regarding basic third and forth classes to find out the environmental concepts those mentioned · frankly in the field. The researcher considered the word as a unit for analyzing, and to find out the steadiness of analyzing, the searcher resorted to other analyzer to analyze a random sample that equals (33%) from the educational society, also the researcher analyzed the same sample and the accordance percentage between the researcher and the other analyzer was (93%). The study conclusion as follows: 1. Identifying of the list of environmental concepts those proportionally the textbooks of social studies in this cycle, and these concepts are about environmental concept distributed in to the six domains (The environmenta system, environmental resources, natural phenomenon, human environment environmental problems and environment protection.). 2. Total of environmental concepts frequencies in the content of the social studies textbook for third class is (511), with (53%) and fourth class is (454) with (47%). 3. Total of environmental concepts included in the content of these textbooks is (71) environmental concept with (79%). 4. The researcher noticed that, the both domains of environmental problems and environment protection are not paid the enough care from the side of total o repetition and implication percentage. 5. The results of (K 2) test show statistical significant differences in the indication level (0,005) between the frequencies of environmental concepts domains for the two basic classes third and fourth. According to these results in this study the researcher has put many recommendations: To benefit from the list of environmental concepts when promoting the social studies curriculum, and to pay both domains of environmenta problems and environment protection enough interest in the domains, and to find an bullance between the repetitions of environmental concepts domains.
