The study aimed to evaluate the literary texts assigned to the students of the second secondary (Art) in Sultanate of Oman in the light of the Islamic literature criteria through providing answers to the following questions : 1. What are the criteria of the Islamic literature to take into consideration in the literary texts assigned to secondary schools students ? 2. To what extent are these criteria applicable to the literary texts assigned to the second secondary students (Art) in Sultanate of Oman ? 3. What is the proposed perspective for the literary texts assigned to the second secondary students (Art) in the light of these criteria , and the results of current practice ? To answer the first question the researcher reviewed educational literature and previous studies in Islamic literature and the literary texts. He then , extracted a group of criteria which were validated by 18 judges . Eventually, the researcher obtained 27 criteria for Islamic literature. To answer the second question , the researcher converted the criteria list to a card in order to analyze the content of literary texts . He obtained the reliability of the analysis by applying them on ( 6 ) literary texts with the help of two analysts . He made use of Holsti,s Coefficient of Categorical Reliability to measure the reliability factor among them. Then he analyzed the study population to make sure of the applicability of the criteria to them, To answer the third question, the researcher proposed a certain perspective of the content based on the results of the analysis in order to take into account the criteria of Islamic literature criteria that were not found or merely found in the literary texts. The most important results of this study were as follows: 1. The study determined 27 criteria for Islamic literature in the following areas : sensational experience , passion, ideas , meanings, literal experience and wording. 2. It is noted that the wording experiment have been more considered in the analyzed texts. Then the sensational experience was less considered , followed by the ideas and meanings. 3- It is noted that in the sensational experience, the four criteria were largely found , except for the rich imagination, which was far less available in some analyzed texts.
4- He is also marked that criteria were clearly available in the ideas and meanings set of criteria , while there were many criteria hardly existant or completely unavailable in some of the analyzed texts. He was also found that some ideas were in contradiction with Islamic values in some of the analyzed texts. The study concluded with many recommendations. The most important ones are : 1. Reviewing the content of the literary texts assigned for the second secondary students (Art). 2. Making sure that the criteria of ideas and meaning are availablue in the content of literary texts assigned for the second secondary students similarly as the sensational experience , passion, oral and wording experience. 3- It is important to use the researcher,s proposed perspective of the content of the literary texts for the second secondary (Art). The study suggested : conducting studies to evaluate the literary texts ( poetry and prose ) in different stages of education in the Sultanate. It also recommended evaluation the literature presentented in the Omani media in light of Islamic literature criteria.
