The purpose of this study was to investigate the problems of management development (MD) facing the colleges of education, which are supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education in Sultanate of Oman, (Sur, Rustaq, Ibri, Nizwa, Salalah, and Sohar). Reviewing the literature indicates the importance of management development. It is also apparent that there are very few studies related to Management Development problems in Oman. To achieve the objectives, the descriptive method has been used. The views of administrators were collected through questionnaire made for this purpose in order to obtain data related to the problem. The sample of the study is composed of (97) administrators. Data analysis indicated that (73%) of the entire sample responded. The Social Package of Statistical Studies (SPSS) is used to analyze the data. The results indicate that efforts have been done to improve MD through short-term plans set up by the ministry itself rather than individual college. There is not along term comprehensive plans. The result revealed that there are several problems, such as the minimum is given to develop human resource in these colleges. The study recommends the use of long term planning, revision of the organizational structure of the colleges, rules and regulations to allow more participation of their members in management development.
