This study attempted to develop criteria for selecting educational supervisors in the Sultanat Of Oman. It also investigates the level of differences in subjects point of view according to qualification , years of experience, and job level The sample of the study consisted of (406) persons, (administrators, educational supervisors, principals , and headteachers) in five educational areas ( Muscat , Al Batinah North , Al Dakheleiyah , A1 Sharkeiyah North, and Al Dhahrah). A questionnaire was developed by the researcher. It included (27) suggested criteria. The validity of this questionnaire was established by confering a panel of (20) referees. The reliability of the questionnaire was conducted by using test - retest method and the stability coefficient was (0.85).
Frequencies , prcentages , relative importance (rank), and kendall (W) coenfficient of concordance were computed for item (1-8). Means, standard deviations, relative importance (rank), and Kendall (W) coenfficient of concordance were computed for items (9-27). .. Depending on the results of the study, the criteria that can be used to select the candidate for educational supervision are as follows: * Holding a B.A, in education. . * Experience in education, promoted from a teacher to a headteacher.' * Experience in the administrative work. * He must obtain "excellent" in the performance report , the evaluation report of his supervisor , and his direct principal report during the last two years of employment.' " * He should have moral characteristics and comitment to education and its morals * He should have enough technical , supervisory , and humanistic characteristic, and comptencies, * He should have the desire to work as supervisor. He should have linguistic ability in order to express himself clearly. * He should be healthy and physically fit to perform his job He should have gone through some training programmes in educational
supervision , curricular, teaching methodology , and computer applications. * His last three years records should not contain any warning, or punishment * He should have ability to do educational supervision research. * He should pass an interview and personality characteristics test . * He should have appointed as a supervisor and be under probational period (3 to 6) months. After the observation period , he should permenantly appointed. * His colleagues opinions should be taken into consideration.
