This study aimed at investigating the effect of using CORT program in developing creative thinking skills in Social Studies for tenth of basic education students in the Sultanate of Oman. To ensure this a set of activities were developed according to CORT program "breadth and creativity" to teach the unit of "External factors that effect on forming the surface of Earth". The researcher used Torrance test for measuring level of creative thinking form (A) as a pre and post test. The sample of the study consisted of(68)female students of tenth of basic education from Fiadh Al-Marifah in Muscat region. The sample was divided into two groups: an experimental group consisted of (34) students studied by using CORT program and a control group consisted of (34) students studied by the normal method. The results showed higher performance of the experimental group compared to the control group in the three creative thinking skills: fluency, flexibility and originality, and in the total ability of creative thinking. In light of the results of the study, the researcher put forward several recommendations concerning the necessity of encouraging teachers to use CORT programme in teaching and the importance of developing creative thinking skills in Social Studies.
