The purpose of this study was to understand the behavioral characteristics of high achieving students in high school in the sultanate of Oman. The study sample consisted of 331 male and female students from a number of schools in Muscat, Dhakiliya, and Dahira regions. To achieve its purpose, the study employed the Scale for Rating Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students (SRBCSS) by Renzulli.
The Study revealed four dimensions of high achievement: learning, motivation, creativity and leadership. Leadership characteristics of high achievers came first, then motivation, learning, and creativity. The study showed no significant differences between male and female students on the four dimensions, but there were significant differences between them in the behavioral characteristics, except one which was in favor of females.
