The study aims at showing The effectiveness of using cooperative learning strategies in developing some skills of understanding geographical maps by fourth grade basic education pupils. To achieve this aim the researcher designed a unit of social studies textbook based
on the strategy of cooperative learning. The researcher has also prepared a test to evaluate their achievement. A sample of (60) students wear selected from Al-Dakheliah province. They wear divided into control and experimental groups.
The study attempted to answer the following questions:
1- What is the effectiveness of using cooperative learning stratigical in developing fourth grade learners' skills in reading geographical maps in comparison with traditional method of teaching?
2- What is the effectiveness of using cooperative learning stratigical in developing fourth grade learners' skills in analyzing geographical maps in comparison with traditional method of teaching?
3. What is the effectiveness of using cooperative learning stratigical in developing fourth grade learners' skills in interpreting geographical maps in comparison with traditional method of teaching?
demonstrated The results of the revealed that the experimental group to perform better than those of the control group.
