This study aimed at identifying the reality of Administrative Empowerment of school
headmasters/headmistresses in Post Basic schools in the Governorate of Batinah North
in the Sultanate of Oman. To achieve the aim of the study,a questionnaire of (48) items was
designed and validated by the researcher . After insuringthe questionnaire validity and
reliability, it was distributed to a sample of (52) headmasters/headmistresses in 2012 – 2013 .
The gathered data was statistically analyzed . The findings showed significant differences
between the post basic education school headmasters/headmistresses in Batina North province
in their rating of the level of administrative empowerment. It also showed no significant
difference between the study subjects (at the 0.05 level) attributed to gender, experience and
qualification.
The main recommendations of the study are : - There should be more delegation of
responsibility to the school headmasters/headmistresses in order to make them become more
confident in performing their jobs more effectively -Creating a healthy administrative
atmosphere in the Ministry of Education that allows them to reconsider the system of incentives
and rewards as well as developing strategies that enable school headmasters/headmistresses to receive training in the new trends/developments in decision making and its procedures.
