Fixed-sample-size and sequential estimation for a class of life distributions

This thesis considers two procedures of estimation which are fixed sample size and sequential estimation for a class of life distributions. Estimate of parameter 8 is obtained, the confidence intervals and the distribution of this estimate are obtained related to the fixed sample size. Also, the expected value and the variance of this estimate is obtained. Stopping rule and risk function is constructed for the sequential procedure to overcome the problem of using the best-fixed-sample-size procedure. We present conditions to get the second order approximation to risk of the proposed sequential procedure. The simulation results show that the sequential procedure attains the minimum risk associated with the-best-fixed-sample-size procedure.
