Women crime is a social problems that worth studying. It is as important as any other social problems in which women play a prominent role. Like male crimes, female crimes negatively affect the security and stability of the society. Studies have shown that women play more significant and influential role in their children's lives than men do. For instance, women make great efforts to raise, care for and nurture their children, which results in a sustainable and advanced society. Thus, there is no justification any more for neglecting or ignoring the study of female behavior and activity, whether legal or illegal The current study aims at identifying women crimes in the Omani society. In addition to revealing the most important social characteristics of women criminals, the study ako investigates the types of crimes committed by women, the reasons behind their criminal involvement, and finding out the mechanisms that can limit the forms and consequences of crimes committed by Omani women
The study adopts the analytical descriptive approach as a basis for data collection and analysis. The questionnaire was used as the major instrument to collect data from the (20) Omani women who were convicted and jailed in the Central Prison, Wilayat of Samail. The study has come out with several results, the most important of which are: The majority of the female prisoners are in youthful adults with 95% of them falling in the age group 20-49 years. In terms of education, 85% of them have secondary or less schooling. Moreover, most of them are married, divorced and widowed, as well as unemployed with low-income Criminal act do not occur in isolation from social, economic and cultural factors surrounding women. For instance, low level of education, social status of parents, poor socialization, family disintegration, bad companionship, and low level of family income are among the key factors that lead women to commit crimes. Female crimes result in several negative consequences both at the level of their family and their personal life. These include their feeling of loneliness, loss of love and family acceptance, lack of trust in others, loss of social communication and even loss of any purpose in life. All these make them feel useless and unwanted, especially after losing family recognition and approval as well as community appreciation and respect. The study closes by providing some strategies and solutions that might help in decreasing the amount of women crimes in Omani society. Fast, parents should cooperate in raising the children using the accurate ways. Moreover, parents should treat their children equally and never discriminate between them Finally, criminally convicted women umust be given the chance for reintegration into their society without any kind of stigmatization and exclusion
