This study aimed to identify irrational thoughts that are common among
students of the Colleges of Applied Sciences and define anxiety feeling level
among them. The study also aimed to identify the statistically significant
differences between spreading of irrational thoughts and level of social anxiety
based on two variables (Gender and Specialization). The number of students
included in the study was (4568). Then a smaller sample of (282) student, (115)
male student and (167) female student, was selected for the study.

been developed to measure irrational thoughts and another tool to measure
social phobia. The two tools credibility has been checked through arbitration
method, as the stability of them has been estimated based on Cronbach's alpha.
Results showed that the two had acceptable credibility and stability coefficients
for the purpose of the study.
The results showed that the prevalence of irrational thoughts between
students of the Colleges of Applied Sciences was medium. The averages ranged
between (3.51) for seeking personal perfectionist, (2.88) for predicting disasters,
and (3.2) for all other irrational thoughts. The average of prevalence of social
phobia among students was (2.75) for fear of negative evaluation, (2.48) for
talking with others and (2.67) for all other kinds of social phobia. According to
س
gender variable and specialization variable there were being no statistically
significant differences in the irrational thoughts measurement .The level of
significance reached (0.99) which showed no statistical significance impact of
both gender and specialization variables on irrational thoughts.
The results also showed that there were being statistically significance
differences according to both gender and specialization variables for social
phobia measurement. The level of significance reached (0.81) which showed no
statistical significance impact of both gender and specialization variables on
social phobia.
