This study is intended to specify the counseling needs for cycle 2 students in the
Governorate of Batinah South in the Sultanat of Oman . To achieve this the researcher used
a descriptive research approach . The researcher analyzed the related literature reviews and
some Arabic and foreign studies.
The study Was conducted on 529 student in 2010 . The researcher designed a counseling
need questionnaire which was tested to verify its reliability and validity before
administering it .The questionnaire consisted of 73 statement which tackled 6 main
dimensions psychological need educational need family need social need professional need
and economical need .
The main of results of the study
1. The order of these need according to priority came as the following
- The professional needs (average 4.19)
- The educational needs (average 4.08)
- The family needs (average 3.94)
- The psychological needs (average 3.91)
- The social needs (average 3.81)
- The economic need (average 3.75)
2 .There is a significant statistical sign at (0.5) for male students in all of the six pivots .
3. There are ststistically significant differences in the studsnts counseling needs which can
be traced to class . The study showed that there are statistical significant differences in the
following psychological needs social needs professional needs and economical needs and
overall counseling dimensions.
4. there is no statistical sing between the six pivots of the research and the study in total
which can be traced to the variables in the educational level for the father whereas there is
only a statistical sing in the social needs which can be traced to the variables in the mothers
educational level.
