The aim of the study is to analyze the programs of the National Center for Career Guidance for post-basic education students based on the job market requirements in Oman, and to find out to what extent these programs include the skills required by the job market. To fulfill these goals, the study adopts an explanatory sequential mixed method design. Content analysis forms were prepared to answer the first and the second question of the study. The first content analysis form includes 27 items on three areas: planning, design and execution, follow-up and evaluation, whereas, the second consists of 25 statements on five areas: leadership and social influence skills, planning and task completion skills, thinking skills, professional skills, and emotional intelligence skills. In light of the content analysis forms, the researcher analyzed nine of the training programs offered by the National Careers Guidance Centre (NCGC) for post basic education students. Based on the results of the quantitative study, a semi-codified interviewing tool was designed in order to achieve a better understanding of the study. Six experts from NCGC were interviewed besides one of the contributors to the training program planning. The quantitative study of the first form found that there is a high percentage of compatibility in the areas of planning and execution of training programs, with a percentage reaching 80%. On the other hand, follow up and evaluation of training programs scored 65.3%, a medium compatibility degree. In addition, the quantitative study of the second content analysis form found that leadership and social influence skills reached 85%, and planning and task completion reached 78%. This indicates that the skills demanded by the job market exist in the programs to a large extent. However, thinking skills, professional skills, and emotional intelligence skills achieved a medium compatibility degree. The study recommends some procedures that aim to foster the compatibility of the training programs provided by NCGC with the job market requirements.
