Collective memory is a modern concept that stems from the self-memory of individuals in a society to form the memory of a particular community sharing one religion and race. This memory is a pillar upon which communities build their future. In this research, researcher seeks to apply collective memory concept to poetry since poetry is a broad field for social values and traditions. Poetry is the vessel in which poets put their folks' beliefs, thoughts, and principles; it is their divan, protector of their tribes and virtues. Researcher chooses Abu Firas's poetry as it ingrains Arab values since Abu Firas is an emir poet and brave knight. His personality combines between emirate and poetry, so his poetry conveys Arab generosity. He was the spokesman of Hamdanid dynasty, and thus the study constitutes the memory of Banu Hamdan. Introduction 1 addresses Abu Firas's life and values of his poetry. Introduction 2 discusses the concept and manifestations of collective memory and importance of collective memory. Chapter 1 constitutes a moral and religious memory through Abu Firas's poetry. Moral values as stated by Abu Firas is an extraction for Arab values since pre-Islam era till his age. Chapter 2, which is the last one, constitutes a time and place memory for Banu Hamdan through Abu Firas's poetry. Banu Hamdan's collective memory is an exact model for Arab tribes' memories in which Arab identity is defined and a value transferred over generations, one after another.
