English abstract
Literary translation texts whether in Arabic or English are assessed and analyzed using
various methods. This study offers a qualitative, analytical and comparative study that assesses
and analyzes the translation of "The Broken Wings" by suing Vinay and Darblent's translation
model. The study aims at analyzing a published translation by using a process-oriented approach
as an analysis tool. The data analysis compares the Arabic text of The Broken Wings to its
English translation based on the nine procedures. Moreover, data analysis explored the number
of occurrences of each procedure in the translation. Reader-response surveys are used as part of
the analysis of the translation as a triangulation procedure. The data analysis concludes that
seven out of the nine procedures were applied to translation of Gibran's Arabic work under
analysis. The most used procedure is Modulation due to the literary nature of the text.
