This study examines the Sultanate's strategic approach to hosting sports events, focusing on insights from decision makers regarding the current reality and future prospects. A qualitative descriptive methodology, considered the most suitable for this type of research, was employed. Data were gathered through document analysis and interviews with 10 decision makers in sports organizations within the Sultanate. The study presents several significant findings. It reveals that the Sultanate's strategy for hosting sports events emphasizes an incremental approach and is closely aligned with the infrastructure advancements during the Modern Blessed Renaissance. It also identifies a significant emphasis on organizing smaller-scale regional and international events, effectively leveraging the existing infrastructure and topography, given that the current facilities are insufficient for hosting large-scale international events. Additionally, while some sports organizations have ambitious plans to host international and global events, the study highlights a substantial shortfall in the adoption of advanced media technologies necessary for high-quality, globally competitive broadcasting. Based on these findings, the study offers several key recommendations. First, it calls for a comprehensive plan to upgrade current sports facilities to meet global standards. Second, it suggests that major companies in the Sultanate should be encouraged to form partnerships with sports federations and committees to address financial challenges related to hosting events. Lastly, the study recommends expediting the establishment of an organizational structure for Oman Sports Events Centre, suggesting its integration under Oman Investment Authority to delineate the Centre's responsibilities clearly and thereby optimize its benefits for all sports federations.
