English abstract
The current paper aims mainly to identify the extent to which career guidance supervisors in the Sultanate of Oman's Ministry of Education are satisfied with their jobs and to investigate the factors that impact their satisfaction. The qualitative approach was the frame of the study. Six semi-structured interviews were conducted with the study sample. The data extracted were understood by analysing correlations and differences from previous literature on job satisfaction.
The study's results indicated that career guidance supervisors were moderately satisfied with their jobs. The outcome also showed that organisational factors, personal factors, work environmental factors and the work itself were the main influences on job satisfaction. In addition, other major influential factors on career guidance supervisors' job satisfaction included rewards, supervision, NCGC's policies and workgroups. Finally, the study recommends re-evaluating the policies of providing career guidance service in Omani schools. This re-evaluation, however, needs to involve career guidance supervisors, acknowledging their bottom-up judgments that could potentially enrich and facilitated any top-down change.
