This study constructed a research framework based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) aiming to measure the usability attributes that have affected student use of the electronic (e-) learning system (Moodle) at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) during the emergency remote teaching (ERT) period due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve the study objective, descriptive research was applied, administering an online survey based on the research model to collect quantitative data from students who were using Moodle for online learning. From the population of students in the College of Education at SQU who were using Moodle during the ERT period, the study recruited a convenient sample of 130 students from different fields of specialization based on voluntary participation. Employing the research model based on TAM, path analysis was conducted to provide critical insights into the effects of the usability attributes of Moodle on student acceptance and use of the system in the 2020 spring semester. The findings revealed statistically significant effects of system learnability, system interactivity, instructional assessment, and content quality on student perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of Moodle. Moreover, the results verified the optimal predictor of the research model, students' behavioral intention to use such a system, which had the most significant and positive effect on students' actual use of the Moodle, consistent with other studies, particularly those using versions of TAM. In light of these findings, the study suggests some implications (i.e. Concentrate on providing synchronous and asynchronous tools to improve Moodle, provide good quality content and instructional materials) and recommendations for future research (i.e. Investigate other usability attributes or external factors, covering all SQU colleges, and explore instructors' perspectives of Moodle).
