The subject of the study deals with the Metaversetechnology in the criminal justice system, both its current and hoped implications. It raises contemporary criminal issues that need to be addressed. It also highlights concerns about its role in reshaping and restoring human relationships and its potential impact on society, such as the burden of new security and privacy threats to individuals and the rise of cybercrime in the digital space. The danger lies in legislating and making amendments to laws and procedures. Consequently, the current study sheds light on a central problem reflected in the following: will our physical criminal justice system be effective in the Metaverse virtual world, or do we need to reconsider the nature of penal texts? Thus, to address the subject of studying criminal policy inconfronting the Metaverse technology: "reality and hope," the current study is divided into three sections. The first section is devoted to studying the legal framework of Metaverse technology, the second section discusses the applications of Metaverse technology in criminal justice, and the third section sheds light on the penal policy in combating crimes committed through Metaverse technology. The research concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which are: the need to develop legal mechanisms to confront this threat and the need to adopt a proactive step by the Omani legislator and those in charge of law enforcement to face this danger by enacting legislation and making amendments to the new laws of combating information, technology and protecting personal data.
