English abstract
Over the last four decades, most Arab countrieshave undergone considerable development andboth undergraduate and postgraduate educationhave spread and improved. Moreover, the number ofjournals published in Arab countries has increased, whichhas provided an outlet for publishing research that is oflocal importance but is not of much interest to thescientific community at large and, thus, has a smallchance of being accepted by well-established journalswith a wide readership. However, as Arab countries arepart of the developing world, their contribution to thebiomedical research literature is modest.
