English abstract
The aim of the current study was to examine the availability of Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium in the USA (INTASC) in the performance of the school sport teachers in Sultanate of Oman. It was also to suggest ways to develop the performance of school sport teachers based on (INTASC).
To achieve the study aims, the researcher used a descriptive approach in which two tools were used: 1- a questionnaire to assess the performance of sport teachers from their point of views, which contains 71 indicators divided in 10 professional standards. 2 An observation cards to assess the quality of the sport teachers performance according to school sport supervisors and It contains 65 indicators divided in 9 standard.
The study sample consists of (250) PE teachers in which (65) participant were males and (185) were females. In addition to (30) PE teachers, including (11) males and (19) females from the same study community and from the outside the basic community were observed by (14) PE supervisors.
The study found that Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium in the USA is applied in the performance of school sport teachers in Sultanate of Oman in a way that satisfies the expectations of average (2.99), standard deviation of (0.57), and percentage of (74.75%). The study showed that there are differences of statistic indications (as 0.05) in the availability of (INTASC) leaded by the factor of social sex in which females got a better result.
However, the findings didn't show any differences of any statistic indications(as 0.05) in (INTASC)in the factors of years of experience and teaching stage.
Moreover, a intervention or strategy was recommended to develop the performance of school sport teachers in Sultanate of Oman based on (INTASC). It was recommended also to apply that suggestion in the assessment of the quality of school sport teachers' performance and to use it to run training courses for them.
