English abstract
This study aims to identify the viewpoints of social workers about the obstacles which they encounter in the educational field and then to analyse the real roles which social workers practise at schools. This study covers social workers in A'Dakhlia Region schools in the Sultanate of Oman. It is a descriptive study which depends on an inclusive social survey. Two methods are used, questionnaires and content analysis. For data analysis, the means, deviations, and percentages are extracted in order to analyze variations using the Kruskal Wallis Test. The samples studied are all of social workers in A'Dakhlia Region schools. They are of (64) males and females for the academic year 2005/2006 The study shows the obstacles which face the social worker in educational field as follows: Obstacles related to family and society 2- Obstacles related to financial and human potential 3- Obstacles related to social worker preparation 4- Obstacles related to school administration 5- Obstacles related to training and supervision 6- Obstacles related to social worker personality 7- Obstacles related to student responses with social worker In addition, The study results show that the Social Worker practices secondary roles away from his main duties. The study offers a number of suggestions for each dimension. These suggestions focus on the vocational role of the social worker in schools and the importance of the human and financial potentials which contribute to the success of the social worker.
