English abstract
The study aimed at revealing the role of school headmasters in creating professional learning communities in basic education schools in Al Batinah North Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. The study followed the descriptive method. The questionnaire was used to collect data applied to a sample of (444) teachers from basic education schools.
The study found that the role of school headmasters in creating professional learning communities in the basic education schools in
Al Batinah North Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman was high in all the axes: (school strategic planning - formation of school work teams - continuous professional development - The study also revealed that there were statistically significant differences at in the response of the sample members due to the variable: gender in favor of females and the variable of scientific qualification in favor of diploma qualification. The study also revealed no differences With no relation Of statistics at in the study sample response due to the variables: years of experience job title.
The study recommended several recommendations, the most important of which are: to develop the leadership and educational capacities of school principals to be able to lead and build professional learning communities in their schools, to support the partnership between the school and the community to improve school performance and improve student learning.
