English abstract
The aim of this study is to define the availability of standards of National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) regarding algebra content in in the basic education grades six seven and eight in Sultanate of Oman. To achieve the aim of thisstudy, the researcher designed an instrument by translating the standards and indicators of (NCTM) about the subjects of algebra. Then he listed them as analysis card based on methodically and researching analytical descriptive method. On the framework, the researcher analyzed the subjects of the three books using frequencies and percentages as statistical processing.
The results of the study show that there are percentage levels of availability in the four standards of algebra which are:
-Use mathematical models to represent and understand quantitative relationships with ratio (38.46%).
-Understand patterns, relations and function with ratio (29.74 %). Represent and analyze mathematical situations and structures using algebraic symbols with ratio (29.74 %).
-Analyze change in various contexts with ratio (2.05 %).
The study came out with some recommendations and suggestions in the light of the results. These recommendations point out the necessity of putting concern on the scientific foundations and global standards, and depend on them when constructing algebra.
