The potential of using the internet from the perspective of workers in Learning Resource Centers (LRC) in Al Batina Area This study has set out to address the following queries: What is the role of the internet in (LRC)with respect to Collection, Services, Activities and Communication? 2- From the perspective of the specialists and other workers in the centers, are there statistically significant differences amongst the users in accordance with the variables of age, educational : qualifications, specialization and expertise? 3- What are the reasons for the infrequent use of the internet in the information centers? To address these concerns, the research has followed a descriptive method. A questionnaire is prepared which consisting of 47 items has been distributed upon Workers in (LRC). Besides, a series of interviews have been conducted with the Director of Educational Supervision as well as with administrators at schools in the region. In addition phone; interviews have been made with the Information Technology teachers at a 1st cyclic (classes 1-4(. The research was carried out in the Region of Batina. It has approached 114 respondents, the total number of the specialists working in (LRC) in the region, 59 head masters of Basic Education schools at the region as well as the Director of Educational Supervision.
The data have been analyzed by using: means, standard deviation and one way ANOVA.
The respondents fiend: 1- That the role of the internet is at its most significant at the level of communication followed by activities and collections and then services. 2-The variables of age, specialization and expertise did not play a statistically significant role with regards to the use of the interne at (0,05=a) significance : This means that the internet is used across all groups irrespective of the previous variables.. 3- The quality of the computers in the (LRC) is such that does not encourage the frequent use of the internet. Another reason is that there fear of what the internet contains. In addition, respondents fiend that the lack of support of the administration of schools also precludes frequent use of the internet. Finally, the respondents' lack of thinking over, the internet is the last reason for the infrequent use of the internet. 4-There is no clear planning in the information centers in the Directorate of Al Batina with respect to supervision and evaluation. This could perhaps be viewed as the prime reason for the infrequent use of the internet. It should be mentioned, though, that there are individual efforts that seek to promote the use of the internet, and that these efforts are usually supported by the works in the (LRC). 5- The (LRC) which have Internet are not always accessible to the students as Office of Education Supervision thought.
