English abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the most prominent characteristics of the board directors of non-governmental organizations in the Sultanate of Oman, and to know the reality of practicing administrative processes in these organizations, namely, (planning, coordinating, organizing, training, and funding). In addition, the study seeks to identify the major challenges that affect the efficiency these processes, as well as possible mechanisms to activate its practices in organizations.
Basedon a descriptive survey methodology, the study applied on all Omani Women Organizations as one of non-governmental organizationsin Muscat and Dhofar Governorate; however, 12 out of 14 organizations were participated in the study which constitute 86% of the total organizations in both governorates. In addition, the study was applied on 98 out of 125 of boards of directors of these organizations which constitute 78% of the total members. The data collection tools include: a questionnaire and interviews to achieve goals of the study.
The study reached many results, and the most important results are that a large percentage (79%) of respondents were obtained the Diploma Degree or below, and their age average was 34.3 years old. The study showed the presence of a relatively high experiences among respondents with an average experience, amounted to 5 years; and majority of respondents (69.4% of them) received training courses with average 3.13 course/member. Also, the study confirmed that the majority of respondents (68.4%) were unemployed. With respect to the results of practicing the administrative processes, results of the study confirmed that the overall performance of these processes in the organizations is amounted to 74.7%; however, this percentage is within the level of "medium average" of processes performance according to the standard classification schedule. Also, results confirmed that the best performance of administrative processes in Omani women organizations came as follows: coordination in the first level, then planning; while organizing, then financing as the less performance of the administrative processes.
In addition, results of (T-test) showed that there are differences statistically significant with respect to practicing the administrative processes between organizations in both governorates: Muscat and Dhofar and in favor to Dhofar. Moreover, results of (ONE WAY ANOVA) revealed the impact of the following variables: age, level of education, and employment status on practicing some administrative processes. The results also showed that lack of the financial support is the largest challenge that affect the efficiency of the administrative processes. Finally, the study concluded a set of operational proposals that can hopefully to the activation of practicing the administrative processes in non-governmental organizations in the Sultanate.
