English abstract
The study is designed to identify the relationship between the professional competency and the psychological stress Imams and preachers experience in the light of some variables in Southern Sharqiyah Governorate. The researcher has used descriptive method where the study population of 317 and sample of the study 161 lmams and preachers working in the mosques located in the governorate under the authority of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. The tools used in the study are: The Professional Competency Scale that was prepared by Al Shurafa (2011) and the Psychological Stress Meter prepared by Al Sayyid (2016).The results showed that the professional competency among the sample was observed to be at high levels, while the psychological stress scored average. Moreover, the results showed a negative correlation relationship between professionalism and psychological pressure.The study also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the professional competency scale in relation to some variables such as job and age, except for the the variable of the number of years and experience in the cognitive dimension was in favor of the experienced group of (1-5) years. The results also showed that there were no differences in the psychological stress scale according to the variable of the job and the number of years and experience, except for the age variable in both the work conditions, job tasks, and personal traits where the differences were in the group aged 42-58, while in the dimension of professional interaction the differences were in the favor of the group aged 34-42.
