English abstract
The aim of the current study is to identify the programs presented to develop environmental awareness among university youth, to reveal the reasons leading to the lack of environmental awareness among university youth. In addition, to propose a program for using social marketing in developing environmental awareness among university youth.
This study is considered as a descriptive Analytical Study. Using a social survey that was applied on 802 university youth and seven Experts and specialists. The study uses two tools; a Questionnaire that was applied on university youth and the Focus Group guide that was applied on experts and specialists.
The results of the study reveals, that most of the experts and specialists sample indicated the insufficiency of the developing environmental awareness programs which negatively affects the level of environmental awareness among young people, The main reasons for the lack of environmental awareness among university youth are their ignorance of the importance of contributing to environmental activities with a rate of 81.5%, In addition to the dependency and lack of motivation among the largest group of them that hinder the development of their environmental awareness.
Finally, the results show that one of the preferred proposals by university youth is to raise awareness of environmental laws and violations by various means and in an accessible language by 89%.
