This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of text structure strategy in maintaining the global coherence of the expository text on 8th grade students in English. '
Establishing a global coherence is based on the ability to grasp the text main ideas and maintaining a comprehension monitoring on the macro- structural level. Thus, the effectiveness of text structure was tested through the following hypotheses which were: There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre testing and post testing in the summarization test in the favor of the post testing, and there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-testing and post testing in the error detection test in the favor of the post-testing.
To examine the study hypotheses pre and post tests were applied after checking their reliability and validity, and a training program was designed based on text structure strategy. It consisted of (7) lectures. Each training lecture run between (30) to (40) minutes.
This study followed one group design, and the sample of the study consisted of (10) students from Shams AlHuda School in the Governate of Batinah South.
After collecting data, analytical statistical method revealed the following results: There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-testing and post testing in the error detection test in the favor of the post-testing, and there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-testing and post testing in the summarization test in the favor of the post-testing. .
