English abstract
The study aimed to identify the relationship of career adjustment with both social
responsibility and work values and to find out the differences in the levels of
career adjustment, social responsibility and work values according to the study
variables. It also aimed at predicting the level of career adjustment through the
dimensions of work values. The study used the descriptive correlative approach
with three different questionnaires for the: career adjustment, social
responsibility, and work values. The sample which was chosen by a clustered
random way consisted of 215 specialists of career guidance from four
governorates in the Sultanate of Oman, namely Al-Batinah North, Muscat,
A'sharqiya South, and Dhofar. To answer the study questions, we used arithmetic
averages, standard deviation, t- test for two independent samples, one way
ANOVA analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis.
The results showed that the sample possesses high levels of career adjustment
with a general average (3.56) and work values with a general average (4.12), and
a very high level of social responsibility with a general average (4.41). The results
did not show a statistically significant difference in career adjustment, social
responsibility and the work values attributed to the variables of gender,
specialization, years of experience, and educational level.
However, it showed that there are statistically significant differences in the levels
of career adjustment due to the variable of the academic qualification in favour
of the intermediate diploma versus the bachelor's and master's qualifications in
the dimension of job satisfaction and the master's degree in the self-dimension
and the scale in general. The differences came in favour of the bachelor versus
the master in both the economic dimension and the scale In general, while there
are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (≤ 0,05) in
ح
both social responsibility and work values attributable to the variable of academic
qualification.
The results also showed that there are no statistically significant differences at the
level of significance (≤ 0.05) in the levels of social responsibility attributed to the
educational governorate variable between the governorates of Al Batinah North,
Muscat, and Asharqiya South, while there are significant differences between
Dhofar and the other governorates. There were no statistically significant
differences in both career adjustment and work values attributable to the variable
of the educational governorate.
The results also showed a statistically significant correlation between all study
variables. The results reached the possibility of predicting career adjustment
through the dimensions of work values, namely: belonging to work, fairness in
dealing and career control respectively, using the regression equation. Based on
the results, the study came out with a set of recommendations and proposals, in
order to serve the guidance and career guidance and educational field in general.
