This study aimed to investigate the real use of electronic games and
notice their negative effects on basic and post-basic education students.
In addition, it highlighted the negative effects of these games on
students' health, educational, social and behavioral sides in order to find
some solutions to face these challenges of electronic games and reduce
its sever effects.
The researcher adopted the descriptive and analytical approach that was
applied using the social survey method by the non-probability sample
using a scale designed by the researcher and directed electronically to a
sample of students which got a positive interaction from 107 male and
female students from the second cycle of basic and post-basic education
students who play electronic games excessively in different areas of the
Sultanate. In addition, an interview guide was directed electronically to
a sample of social workers in various schools from Muscat Governorate
and Al-Batinah South Governorate. The number of specialists who
interacted positively with the guide reached 18 male and female social
workers.
The research relied on the combination of quantitative and qualitative
analysis, as SPSS was used to implement quantitative analysis, then
interpret quantitative data and analyze open questions using a qualitative
analysis method in light of their sociological significance.
