English abstract
The current study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using mobile applications on teaching social study to develop grade ten students' achievements and improve science process skills. The researcher used a quasi-experimental research and the study sample consisted of 50 male students. The sample was equally divided into one experimental and one control group (each consisted of (25) male students). The experimental group was taught by mobile applications while the control group was taught by the normal method.
Data were collected by using three instruments: achievement test consisted of (22) questions, science process skills test consisted of (19) questions and attitudes scale consisted of (17) items distributed into (3) domains. The validity of these instruments was checked by a panel of judges and reliability was examined by using Alpha-Cronbach which was (713) for achievement test, (731) for science process skills test and (831) for the attitudes scale.
The results of the study showed statistical significant differences at the level (a=0.05) between the means of experimental group and control group in favor to experimental groups in achievement and science process skills. The results also revealed that experimental group's students had positive attitudes towards using mobile applications in teaching social study. The researcher recommended
using mobile applications in the field due to its importance in providing supportive and encouraging
learning environment.
