The use of technology in education improves students' understanding. One of the
important uses of technology in education is what impact positively on students' learning.
Until recently, Augmented Reality (AR) is one of the latest technologies that offers a new
way to educate (Kesima & Ozarslanb, 2012). The purpose of this study is to investigate
the effectiveness of using an augmented reality environment on students' achievement and
attitudes. The quasi-experimental approach was followed to achieve the objectives of the
study. The study sample comprised of sixty 10th-grade students from two different
schools and distributed into experimental group with twenty-nine students and control
group contained thirty-one students. The augmented reality experiment was conducted in
the second semester of the academic year 2018\2019 for seven weeks in the first unit of
the IT subjects.
To measure the effectiveness of the augmented reality environment, the Achievement
Test, which contained 35 questions and an Attitude Scale questionnaire that had 25 items,
were used. Educators validated the instruments, and Alpha Cronbach was calculated to
check the reliability.
The result of this study disclosed that Augmented Reality could enhance students'
achievement and information retention. The experimental group showed positive attitudes
toward using the Augmented Reality application.
