English abstract
This study aimed to determine the extent to which a proposed training programme focusing
on lesson planning: warming-up and closure skills was acquired by Omani Islamic Education teachers of basic education, (Cycle 2). To achieve that objective, the researcher prepared a training programme on types of warming-up and closure. The researcher designed a teacher evaluation sheet which included (36) evaluation criteria embedded under (12) types of the target skills: (6) for warming-up and (6) for closure. The sample constituted (15) teachers from (Al Batinah-South): Barka, Wadi Al-Maawel, Nakhal, Al-Musana under observation of the researcher in 30 lessons. This descriptive research found a distinct influence of the prepared training on teachers' acquisition of some types of warming-up and closure skills.
* They used a variety of these types in their teaching to a high extent based on the
researcher's observation.
* Thinking Map scored the highest degree in comparison to other warming-up types.
It was used (7) times out of the (30) lessons. Using a religious text in a warming up phase was the least used type. (3 times). A summary of review questions closure type was the most frequent (8 times) out of the (30) lessons. Reflecting on the ways of presentation was the least used
closure-type in teaching. The study recommended the following:
an improvement to the warming-up section in the national observation sheet of
teacher evaluation. The sheet should include a variety of types for observation. * A section for closure is recommended in the observation sheet for its vital
importance in enhansing the skills of concluding a lesson more effectively.
