The purpose of this study is to investigate how to improve school
needs planning using evidence-based planning through Oman education
portal. The sample consisted of 20 male and female educational planning
members of the Ministry of Education, from Muscat, Al Batinah South, Al
Sharqiyah North, Dhofar and Al Buraimi Governorates. The study uses
descriptive research methodology through qualitative research design.
Data is collected using interview tool, and includes three areas, which are
the actual use of the educational portal, the actual way of determining
school needs, and evidence-based planning processes.
The findings show that evidence-based planning process activation
at the educational portal requires giving authority to the educational
planning members, increasing the reliability of data in the education portal,
providing all the required educational indicators needed in the educational
planning process, and the presence of icons in the education portal which
provide data about implementation and evaluation processes. Based on
findings of the study, the researcher provides a number of
recommendations, the most important of which is to continuously update
data in the educational portal to ensure its accuracy, and to provide
programs and systems in the educational portal that could better serve the
planning process.
