English abstract
This study aimed at investigating the attitudes toward mentally ill people for Al-Batinah South teachers whose number reached (500) male and female teachers. We also aimed to address whether there is a relationship between these inclinations and some variables (Age, Gender, Place of Residence, and Specialty).
The researcher used the descriptive correlative approach in this study for its suitability to the nature of the study. To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher applied the Attitudes inventory to the mental illness which was used in the study of Shenan (2015) after verifying the suitability of its psychometric features for the objective of this study.
The study showed the following results The general inclination toward mental illness for Al-Batinah South teachers was positive. There were not any statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) attributed to the variable gender (males and females). There were not any statistically significant differences for inclinations toward mental illness attributed to the variable of age. There were not any statistically significant differences for inclinations toward mental illness attributed to the variable of specialty.
There were statistically significant differences for inclinations toward mental illness attributed to the variable of the place of residence , There is no effect of the variables (gender, age, specialization, place of residence) on the attitude towards the mentally ill people.
Based on the mentioned results and their discussion, the researcher suggested the following recommendations Develop an academic and educational policy represented in providing curricula and curricula that include topics of mental health for all disciplines of teachers (scientific and literary). Educating teachers in mountainous areas in the psychological field, for their role and the responsibility that falls on them in observing students' psychological disorders and problems and providing them with skills that help them discover these disorders and how to deal with them.
