English abstract
This study aimed to investigate the school administration practices in post basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman based on teamwork approach from the point of view of school principals, assistant principals and senior teachers.
In order to achieve the objectives of the study, literatures related to teamwork were studied and analyzed. A field study has been conducted using a questionnaire consisting of 40 items grouped into four dimensions: the importance and benefits of teamwork, the principles of building teamwork, the relationships among teamwork members and the obstacles constraining the success of teamwork.
The sample size of the study was 850 including school principals, assistances principals, and senior teachers of both genders in 4 educational regions in the Sultanate of Oman.
The collected data was statistically analyzed using SPSS package by applying the means, standard deviations, Independent Sample T-test, one way ANOVA and Least Significant Differences (LSD) test for post analysis to verify the source of differences. Percentages were used to rank the study participants responses to the open ended question related to the application requirements of the teamwork approach in the development of the school administration for post basic schools in the Sultanate of Oman.
The major findings of the study were as following:
1. The degree of the percent teamwork practices in the post basic education school in the Sultanate of Oman ranged between high and moderate.
2. Regarding different variables of the study, the following results were revealed:
a. There were statistically significant differences at level a≤0.05 among means of the sample practices with respect to the variable of gender for four dimensions .The first three dimensions were counted for females while the fourth dimensions is counted for males.
b. There were significant differences at level a≤0.05 among means of the sample practices with respect to the variable of professional level for first and second in favor of assistances principles, and for fourth dimensions in favor of senior teacher.
c. There were no statistically significant differences at level a ≤ 0.05 among means of the sample practices with respect to the variable of qualification for the first dimension .However, there were differences for the second, third and forth dimensions in favor of the diploma holder.
d. There were no statistically significant differences at level a≤ 0.05 among means of the sample practices with respect to the variable of educational region for the first and fourth dimension. However, there were differences for the second and third dimensions in favor of the Muscat region.
In the light of the literature analysis and the result of the field study, the present study provided an number of proposed procedures to develop the school administration in post basic education school in the Sultanate of Oman based on teamwork approach. A number of further researches issues have been proposed too.
