Summary of study:
This study aims to set collective guidance program proposal to reduce psychological stress of cycle two teachers in Muscat / Aseeb. This program is set according to the literature written in this field in addition to previous studies in reducing psychological
stress.
This guidance program consists of eight sessions. Each session takes approximately 60 minutes. The first session aimed to introduce the guide to the members of guidance group and know each other. Also, it aims to build confidence between each other and identify the concept of collective guidance and its program which will be applied for them. The second session aimed to define the concept of psychological stress, its symptoms, its sources and its effects. The third session aimed to clarify the concept of event compressor and how to evaluate it. While the fourth session aimed at training the members about respiratory relaxation after identifying its concept and benefits, the fifth session aimed to train them in muscle relaxation after knowing its concept and benefits. The purpose of the sixth session was to identify the concept of self- affirmation and its importance. Also it aimed to know how to balance between- positive and negative self-affirmation and the importance of mastering the skill and apply it in daily situations. The seventh session aimed to identify the importance of self-reflection skill and the steps of applying it practically through walking and breathing. The eighth session is about the skill of solving problems and it aims to identify the skill of solving problems, its importance and train the members of how to solve the problems following the correct steps.
The ninth session is about Positive self-talk skill and the impact of this skill to alleviate the psychological pressure
The last session aimed to summarize all the main points discussed previously and plan how to support each other and maintain their progress after the end of the guidance program.
There are many methods used in the guidance sessions such as lectures, discussion, reinforcement, modeling, techniques of solving problems, role plays, and assignments.
At the end, researcher hopes that people who are interested in this area benefit from this guidance program and she recommends to conduct experimental study to evaluate the effectiveness of this program in reducing psychological stress.
